Scottish headquartered engineering group RSE (Ross-shire Engineering) today completed the acquisition of Southampton company Murray Technical Services (M-Tech); an electrical engineering and installation contractor for the UK water industry.
The deal will see RSE take up a majority equity share in the business whilst retaining the key skills of the M-Tech Team.
RSE Managing Director, Allan Dallas, commented:
M-Tech have a great reputation across the south of England for electrical installations and maintenance. The M-tech acquisition is a reaction to increased demand for RSE ser-vices in the south, and we are now pleased to bolster our skills-base and credentials in this region.
M-Tech Managing Director Paul Murray welcomed the acquisition as a boost for the business’ growth ambitions:
We have experienced year on year growth since incorporating the business in 2013. We felt the business needed the support of a larger partner to target the next phase of growth. RSE’s unique suite of products and capacity to deliver larger projects was a major attraction for our management.
RSE have begun the process of re-purposing one of our innovative Transportable Treatment Units (TTU), bringing large carbon reduction benefits compared to creating a TTU from scratch. This process will see the Craignure WTW TTU, which has performed to exceptional standards for the past five years, removed from the current site, refurbished and then installed as one of two TTUs for the new Dalwhinnie WTW.
Back in 2015 RSE were approached by Scottish Water to urgently design, fabricate, install and commission the Craignure WTW in a short 4 month period. For the past five years the TTU has provided exceptional water quality for the area, however it was only a temporary solution. Scottish Water have now completed the installation of the long term solution that includes another RSE TTU and now main out from Tobermory.
Having completed the task it was first designed for, the TTU has now been removed from the Craignure WTW site and transported back to our purpose built facility in Muir of Ord. Now back at the facility our specialist teams will carry out a small refurbishment and tidy up before transporting the TTU to the site of the Dalwhinnie WTW.
When the first TTU was conceived at RSE the goal was to have a truly transportable treatment solution that could be used on a plug and play basis wherever required. This latest solution will bring massive carbon reduction benefits as the TTU isn’t built from scratch.
RSE’s innovative modular water treatment solutions provide multiple advantages such as – minimal disruption to local customers, programme efficiency & certainty, and HSE & Carbon Reduction benefits from construction off-site in a factory environment.
