World Water Week provides a chance to recognise water as a valuable resource, with this year’s campaign concentrating on the topic ‘Seeds of Change: Innovative Solutions for a Water-Wise World’.

World Water Week is a non-profit event and leading conference on global water issues, held on an annual basis since 1991.

RSE’s strategic aim is to provide industry-leading innovative solutions and to be acknowledged as the leader in the water industry, creating new products and technology to satisfy the needs of our customers.

As an ethical and sustainable company, whose business model is wholly reliant on the natural environment, being at the leading edge of carbon reduction is a key objective within our strategy and is fully supported from the top to the bottom of our organisation.

As a result, RSE is continually offering products which are more carbon, cost and environmentally beneficial for our business and our clients.

The use of nature-based solutions will be essential to achieving our net zero targets and has the added advantages of preserving the environment, ensuring the long-term security of our water supply, and lowering the risk of flooding. RSE is committed to creating solutions that are resistant to the effects of climate change on raw water quality and quantity.

During World Water Week, we recognise that the global water demand is likely to increase by up to 30% by 2050 in order to meet population growth. Significant change is therefore required to meet these increasing demands, with the water industry constantly evolving to adapt. Our in-house Products & Innovations team are currently developing several nature-based solutions including reed beds, septic tanks, and natural Phosphorous removal solutions.

Ceramic Membrane Treatment Plant in the UK - Hampton Loade WTW

In addition to this, RSE’s Water Technologies provide industry-leading water treatment solutions. For example, our modular offsite ceramic membrane plants offer a low-energy water treatment solution. Ceramic membranes have a greater throughput, resulting in 7% less water being abstracted from the natural environment. The membranes used within RSE projects last 4 times longer than alternatives, resulting in significantly longer lifespans.  The ceramic membrane can also be crushed and reused at the end of its filtering life as an alternative to other fill materials. One of our project examples, Hampton Loade WTW, will be the world’s largest ceramic membrane plant and will treat 210 million litres of high-quality water every day, providing fresh water to 700,000 customers.

Our teams strive to develop engineered solutions for the treatment and purification of water to preserve the world’s most important resource and ensure the industry is operating in a sustainable manner for a more water-wise world.
