Tomatin Modular WTW Ready for Workshop Commissioning
RSE were engaged by ESD (Efficient Service Delivery) to provide a completely new water treatment works to replace an existing dosing system to achieve compliance of DW25 driver for cryptosporidium as the existing chemical dosing assets were nearing the end of their life expectancy.
RSE were responsible for the design, fabrication, installation and commissioning of the new modular WTW which contains water quality monitoring instrumentation, cartridge filtration system, UV treatment, sodium hypochlorite disinfection, chlorine contact pipe, sodium carbonate pH correction, treated water re-lift pumps, an MCC and welfare facilities.
Furthermore, RSE were responsible for the civil design and construction of all of the associated infrastructure required for the new WTW as well as the design and construction of a new borehole rising main and new section of treated water rising main to connect the new WTW to the existing rising main.
A major challenge of the project involved working directly above a live, single source borehole which required mitigation measures such as excavation depth limits, surface water control, off site welfare facilities, utilisation of food grade oil and the installation of a temporary hydrocarbon monitoring system.
