Sustainable Development Goals

The SDGs are a set of 17 interconnected and ambitious objectives that represent a shared commitment to building a better future for people and the planet, leaving no one behind.

These goals serve as a universal call to action to address pressing global challenges and create a more sustainable and equitable world by the year 2030.

RSE supports all 17 SDGs and have selected four key goals which strongly align with our sustainability values and commitments.

Our innovative technologies provide industry-leading water treatment solutions, including the UK’s largest modular ceramic membrane water treatment plant, which will treat 210 million litres of high-quality water every day to provide a fresh water supply to 700,000 customers. The ceramic membrane treatment process reduces water abstraction by 8%, reducing the threat of water scarcity and improving resource management in the local area.

RSE additionally closely supports the WaterAid charity, having engaged with fundraising events including Walk for Water, the Water Aid Scotland Munro Challenge and Yorkshire Water Cycle Challenge. WaterAid is an international not-for-profit organisation that works around the world to ensure everyone has access to clean water, proper hygiene, and improvised sanitation.

RSE is contributing towards the UK’s economic growth by providing local employment opportunities within a secure business experiencing rapid growth. RSE employs over 1600 people, with forecasted growth over the next five years to provide exciting job prospects and the opportunity for career development within a variety of disciplines across our UK wide locations.

RSE is a market-leader in water treatment technologies, particularly in modular off-site construction. Modular off-site construction can improve health, safety, and quality assurance, reduce carbon costs by up to 25% and reduce site traffic by up to 95%

Our Innovations team is developing new and exciting solutions to traditional water-industry construction methods by focusing on reduced energy requirements, and the use of alternative materials.

RSE is committed to achieving our operational Net Zero targets by 2030. In doing so, RSE is implementing low carbon energy solutions across the business to help achieve this, including the use of solar panels, Hydro-Treated Vegetable Oil (HVO), biomass boilers, electric vehicle (EV) chargepoints and implementing energy efficiency measures.
